Scoring

During each match each of the three judges will complete a score sheet (found here). Each judge has a vote with each judge’s vote going to whichever team receives a higher score on his/her score sheet. (If a judge that awards equal points to the two teams each team receives half of his/her vote.) The winner of the match is the team that receives more votes.  If the two teams receive an equal number of votes then the winner of the match is the team that has the highest number of cumulative points (cumulative, that is, among the three judges’ score sheets).

In the group stage if the two teams receive an equal number of cumulative points then each team is awarded half a victory and half a loss.

In the semifinals if the two teams receive an equal number of cumulative points then a coin toss will be used to determine the winner.

In the championship match if the two teams receive an equal number of cumulative points then the two teams are co-champions.

Progression to the knockout stage of the tournament is determined by each team’s place in its group table.  Ranking in a table is determined by the following criteria (in order of priority):

a) Highest number of victories

b) Lowest number of losses

c) Highest number of judge votes

d) Greatest point differential (if Teams A and B each have 2 wins and 1 loss and 6 judge votes, and Team A has a total point differential of +20 (e.g., with a cumulative point differential of 99-85 in its favour in one match and a cumulative point differential of 90-83 in its favour in another match and a cumulative point differential of 60-59 against it in another match) while Team B has a total point differential of +19 (e.g., with a cumulative point differential of 150-136 in its favour in one match and a cumulative point differential of 155-153 in its favour in another match and a cumulative point differential of 180-177 in its favour in another match) then Team A will be ranked higher in the table).

e) Highest aggregate total of cumulative points across all matches

f) coin toss

Seeding in the knockout stage is determined by the same criteria.
